PRESS RELEASE

On March 23, 2023, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office and Tarboro Police Department Narcotics Division assisted the Wilson Police Department Narcotics Division in closing out an ongoing investigation regarding the sale and delivery of Heroin between Wilson and Edgecombe Counties. The suspect in this case was Jermale Avent who resides on Ainsley Circle in Tarboro NC.

Warrants for Sell/Deliver Heroin were obtained by Wilson Police Department Detectives. The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office and Tarboro Police Department were able to perform surveillance on Jermale Avent’s residence. Avent was seen leaving on a gray in color Dodge Charger. A traffic stop was initiated on Kingsboro road and Jermale Avent was taken into custody without incident.

Jermale was served with the outstanding warrants for two (2) counts of Sell/Deliver Heroin.

He was given a $50,000 secured Bond and placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center.

Our efforts in continuing to rid the Tri-counties of dangerous gangs, guns, and drugs continues and the joint efforts will not cease.
