The request, made by Rocky Mount Today, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, seeks access to records pertaining to pre-election voting machine test reports.

As per the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1., we have requested these records in an electronic format. Specifically, we are looking for PDF versions of the pre-election test reports for the county’s election voting machines.

The requested information includes specific details such as the date of the test, the manufacturer of the machine, the model number of the machine, and whether the machine passed or failed its pre-election test.

At Rocky Mount Today, our mission is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to our readers. Access to public records like these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
