FOIA Request to Wilson County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Rocky Mount Today have submitted a request for records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1.

The request was made with the aim of obtaining pre-election test reports for voting machines used in the county’s elections. The information sought includes the date of testing, machine manufacture details, machine model numbers, and their status (whether they passed or failed the test). We requested that these records be provided in a PDF format.

We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

As always, we are committed to keeping you informed about important local government matters. Stay tuned for updates as we continue our investigation into this matter.
