The NCSO has received multiple calls from citizens today in regards to a fraudster trying to take your hard earned money. They have received telephone calls from the phone number 252-319-9033, who claims to be Deputy Michael Owens with the NCSO, and advising that they have missed jury duty and need to pay $300 to reconcile. He is then asking them to send money through Cashapp.

Be advised that no law enforcement agency will ask you to pay anything over the phone or through any type of Cashapp or other app that transfers money, or any prepaid type debit card.

THIS SHOULD BE A RED FLAG FOR YOU!

Don’t give your money away!
