Earlier today, Sheriff Atkinson had the pleasure of speaking with 15 outstanding & engaged young men with The Village: Males To Men mentoring program. Sheriff Atkinson had an open dialogue with them about their future, discipline, circle of friends, respect for themselves and their parents, appearance, education, and doing what is right when no one else is looking. Sheriff Atkinson thanks them for the invitation!!

The Rocky Mount Fire Department has retained its Class 1 fire protection rating from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM), which is the highest recognition under the North Carolina Response Rating System (NCRRS).
City Manager Elton Daniels has announced the formal appointment of Martin V. McCoy Sr. as Chief of Police for the Rocky Mount Police Department, effective February 14, 2026.
