On March 5th 2023 a traffic stop was conducted on a gray in color Nissan Versa due to multiple motor vehicle violations.

During the traffic stop one of the occupants made a sudden movement and the sound of metal hitting metal was heard by deputies standing outside the vehicle.

The subject was detained and a firearm was found directly behind him under the back seat cushion.

After discovering the first firearm a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and a second firearm was found in the trunk of the vehicle. That firearm was stolen out of Rocky Mount.

Inside the vehicle were multiple bags of marijuana and a bag of OxyContin pills.

The following subjects were charged accordingly.

Driving while license revoked (citation)

Possession of firearm by felon

Possession of stolen firearm

Deairius Hyman

DOB: 3/3/2003

Possess stolen firearm

Possess marijuana up to 1/2 oz

James A. Jordan III

DOB: 12/29/2003

Trafficking, opium or heroin (possession)

Trafficking, opium or heroin (by transportation)

Possess marijuana up to 1/2 oz

Shaikevyis Hopkins

DOB: 4/28/2003

Carrying concealed weapon

Poss Marijuana >1/2 to 1 1/2 oz
