If you decide to drink and drive this upcoming St. Patrick’s Day , luck will not be on your side in Nash County. The Nash County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads during the statewide ‘St. Patrick’s Day Booze It or Lose It enforcement campaign’ during the week of March 13-19. The campaign is the next in a line of campaigns sponsored by the NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program.
In 2022, 225 motorists were killed or seriously injured in alcohol-related crashes on North Carolina roads during the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign period. Nash County had 150 motor vehicle accidents with 8 of them being fatalities. Increased enforcement during specific campaign periods year-round is a key part of making North Carolina roads safer.
On March 10, 2023 the Nash County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reduction Team held a Multi- Agency Checking station with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, Nashville Police Department, Rocky Mount Police Department and Wilson Police Department in various areas of the County. Listed below are the results from these checking stations.
