Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on July 19.
“Sheriff Atkinson, I just wanted to Thank you and your deputy, Cpl. J. Jones for continuously striving for excellence in helping the community. Last Friday, I had a disabled tractor trailer on US 64 west near the 472 exit. Cpl. Jones stalled the traffic on the bypass so we could get another truck in, turned around, and unload the mail from the disabled truck to another truck. Cpl. Jones stood by as we unloaded the truck then stalled traffic again so we could get the truck tuned back around and he could proceed on US 64 by pass.
Kudos to you and your team for continuously helping the community. Keep up the good work for Edgecombe county.”
