Barton College issued the following announcement on Nov. 3.
Barton College is pleased to announce the recently elected appointment of Eric W. Sellers as Chair of the Barton College Board of Trustees. Sellers was officially installed as Chair at the trustees’ fall 2021 meeting. He follows fellow trustee John F. Lee of Nashville, who served as Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2016-2021.
“I’m thrilled with the appointment of Eric Sellers as our next Chair of the Board of Trustees at the College,” shared Dr. Douglas N. Searcy, President of Barton College. “Eric’s deep love and care for the College are evident through his long-term commitment and his stalwart support. I appreciate his steady leadership and thoughtful guidance, and I am excited about the path that we will walk together. Eric has an excellent energy and a clear vision to help support the upcoming strategic endeavors at Barton College. There are great days ahead.”
Sellers joined the Barton College Board of Trustees in 1997. He most recently has served as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, as well as holding membership on the Institutional Advancement Committee and Trusteeship Committee for the Board.
“What an amazing privilege to serve alongside some of the most talented and passionate people I know and to do so at a place I dearly love,” shared Sellers. “Like many people, I owe a debt to Barton College that I will never be able to repay. When I look at those who have served as Chairs of the Board before, I see very large shoes to fill. Fortunately for me, I do not have to fill those by myself, as we have a very talented, passionate, and visionary Board of Trustees. That, along with the deep talent pool we have in our faculty and staff and the leadership provided by President Doug Searcy, will spell success for Barton for years to come.
Sellers added, “Our mission and our focus will always remain to best serve the needs of our students in a manner that enables them to be prepared to prosper in an ever changing and demanding environment.”
