Edgecombe Community College issued the following announcement on Nov. 15.
Nine cadets graduated from Edgecombe Community College’s 10th Basic Academy of Basic Law Enforcement Training on November 9.
ECC’s BLET Academy prepares students for entry-level employment as a law enforcement officer with state, county, or municipal governments. The cadets completed an intensive 20-week program and have passed the certification exam mandated by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
Graduates are:

- Hudson Chitwood, sponsored by Mt. Olive Police Department
- Darrius Epps, platoon leader, sponsored/hired by Roanoke Rapids Police Department
- Craig Estes, sponsored by Scotland Neck Police Department
- Anna James, squad leader, sponsored by Greenville Police Department
- Kurt Knigge Jr., hired by Pitt County Sheriff’s Office
- Montrell Staton, sponsored by Tarboro Police Department
- Katie Tetterton, sponsored/hired by Farmville Police Department
- Derrin Wells, squad leader, sponsored by Tarboro Police Department
