Public Notice of Untreated Wastewater Discharge

City of Wilson  issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.

The City of Wilson had a discharge of untreated wastewater on January 20, 2022 of an estimated 9,000 gallons along the Bloomery Swamp Outfall, located 800 feet southwest of the intersection of NC Hwy 42 and Trace Drive. The untreated wastewater was discharged into the Bloomery Swamp in the Neuse River Basin.

The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on January 20, 2022 and is reviewing the matter.  

 The City of Wilson had a discharge of untreated wastewater on January 19, 2022 of an estimated 3,000 gallons along the Bloomery Swamp Outfall, located 800 feet southwest of the intersection of NC Hwy 42 and Trace Drive. The untreated wastewater was discharged into the Bloomery Swamp in the Neuse River Basin.

The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on January 19, 2022 and is reviewing the matter.

General Statute 143-215.1C requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment issues a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.
