Since it’s the 4th of July, and we’re talking about the celebration of independence, today is probably the best day to post this.
We routinely talk about the freedoms afforded in this country, and we often recognize those who help provide these freedoms to us.
Many of our current employees at the Sheriffs Office are military veterans and served their country prior to their time in law enforcement serving their communities. We are extremely proud of them, just as we are any veteran who served our country.
It’s even more special when you have current employees who serve their communities, and in their “free time” continue to serve their country. At the Sheriffs Office, we have two members who are still active military members in the Army National Guard.
Captain Robert Bowen, who oversees our Detention Center is the Command Sergeant Major for his battalion. Deputy Thomas Vesce is a Specialist. Both are in the 252 Armor Regiment which is based in Fayetteville, NC and has companies in Parkton, Southern Pines, Smithfield and Red Springs. Both recently attended training at Camp Shelby, MS for the last two weeks, and that’s where these photos and video come from.
We are proud of these two, not only for what they do for our community, but what they also do for our country. Remember, freedom isn’t free. Happy 4th of July.
