If you follow WCC on social media, you may notice posts this week about National Transfer Student Week. Each year, National Transfer Student Week is organized by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students (NISTS) in an effort to celebrate transfer students and the faculty and staff who support them. This year’s theme is “Plug Into Transfer.”
The college transfer department at WCC has organized a college transfer spirit day, free four-year school resources, and free tools to support students along their pathway toward a successful transfer.
On Monday, students will be provided with a list of four-year colleges and universities in NC that are offering waived application fees, as well as information regarding the benefits of college transfer and how to transfer as both a full-time and part-time student. On Tuesday, students will receive information about the guaranteed admissions programs that WCC has with East Carolina University “Pirate Promise”, UNCW “Pathways to Excellence,” and NC Wesleyan University “Wesleyan Works,” and the dual admissions program with NC State “C3”. On Wednesday, students will be encouraged to connect with their advisor to check on their progress toward transfer and learn how to engage with their advisor by asking questions pertaining to their educational goals. Additionally, students will be provided spotlight stories from WCC faculty and staff who were previous transfer students. Students can show their transfer spirit on Thursday by wearing the colors or t-shirts of the college they plan to transfer to after WCC. Faculty and staff are asked to either wear the gear of their alma mater or WCC. On Friday, students will be given a timeline to prepare them for graduation from their college transfer degree and a successful transfer to their four-year school. Students will also be encouraged to visit the WCC Fall Fest on Oct. 26 from 11am-1pm to engage with university representatives for additional transfer resources.
Are you interested in earning a four-year degree at one of the 16 colleges within the UNC system or at one of North Carolina’s private colleges? WCC has five college transfer degree programs that are designed for students to earn their two-year college transfer degree and transfer to a four-year school with junior status. Our college transfer degree programs include Associate in Arts and Associate in Science, Associate in Fine Arts in Music, Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation, and Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation. There’s even an opportunity for students to earn their college transfer degree in just one year by enrolling in our fast-track Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree programs.
Registration starts November 7.
