Wilson County Commissioners have selected Ron Hunt, current Deputy County Manager, to become Wilson County Government’s new County Manager effective January 1, 2023.“It is our pleasure to welcome Ron Hunt as our new Wilson County Manager. An Elm City native, Mr. Hunt is a veteran of county government. His last 8 years as Assistant Manager illustrate an ability to build successful coalitions to address public concerns,” said Rob Boyette, Wilson County Board of Commissioners Chairman. “An effective planner, skilled communicator, and tireless advocate of our community make him the perfect choice to lead Wilson County. We are excited about the future!”
Hunt will fill the position after Denise Stinagle, current manager, retires at the end of the year. Stinagle announced her retirement to commissioners in July.

Before his current role, Hunt started his county government career at the Department of Social Services.
Hunt has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from East Carolina University and a master's degree in social work as a Leadership Scholar from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He’s also a graduate of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Ladder to Leadership program through the Center for Creative Leadership.
Hunt has been married to Nicole Hunt for 17 years. She is a third-grade teacher at New Hope Elementary. They have a 14-year-old daughter at Wilson Early College Academy and a 6-year-old daughter at New Hope Elementary.
