We continue to get calls from citizens about scams and being called by scammers. This is an ongoing issue and with technology the way it is nowadays, we don't see it stopping anytime soon.
LET US SAY THIS!!
The Sheriff's Office, nor any other law enforcement agency, will call you and tell you that you have a warrant or missed jury duty or whatever, and require you to pay money in the form of prepaid debit cards, PayPal, Bitcoin, gift cards or whatever. That is your sign that it's a scam!!
Please do not fall for this and give away your hard earned money. We take multiple reports each week where people have been duped by scammers, and many times these scammers live in another state or sometimes even another country, and there is very little we can do as they are nearly impossible to track. If you have elderly parents or grandparents, please educate them, as they seem to be the preferred target of scammers.
