LEAD HAZARD CONTROL GRANT
To apply, Warren residents must simply visit the link included below and answer the brief questionnaire. Once the information is received by the Community Development Division, a technician will reach out to them and set up a brief meeting to verify their eligibility for the program. Applications featuring a child with an elevated blood lead level (EBLL) will be prioritized during processing. If eligible, the household will receive a free professional lead-based paint hazard inspection and risk assessment; should hazards of any kind exist within the home or its exterior, the grant will pay for a licensed contractor to perform all work required to remove the hazards and make the home lead safe.
As such, the City of Warren urges all residents and landlords who believe they qualify to apply, particularly those in the southern half of the City, which hosts the majority of the City’s oldest housing stock. For more information on this essential program, please call Community Development at (586) 574-4686 or visit the website below.

The grant offered to homes of low- to moderate-income, which contributes upwards of $20,000 toward testing houses for lead hazards and abating any that exist, as well as making various repairs and improvements to the property that make it more safe, sanitary, and secure.
The Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes program is offered cost-free to the home’s occupants, and homeowners and tenants alike may apply. For rental units, permission to access the property is required from the landlord, as well as a 10% co-pay of the lead hazard abatement work. Similarly, landlords who believe their tenants meet program qualifications or plan on marketing their property to renters who will meet program qualifications may apply for the grant.
