From March 31, 2023 post.
Sections of several streets in downtown Wilson will be closed Friday, March 31 through Sunday, April 2 as crews work on the Farmers Warehouse building at 900 Goldsboro Street. The owners of the building will complete needed maintenance during that time, including removing the wall facing Goldsboro Street.
The map below shows all of the streets impacted:
• Goldsboro St from South Street to Jones Street will be closed Saturday and possibly Sunday
• Kenan Street from Goldsboro Street to Tarboro Street will be closed Friday afternoon until the work is complete, most likely on Sunday evening
• Mercer Street from Jones Street to Kenan St. will be closed Friday afternoon until the work is complete, most likely on Sunday evening.
Tarboro, Hines and Barnes Streets will be marked as detours.
Goldsboro St. will also be closed between Kenan and Jones for approximately three hours Friday morning to have the street lights and electric service removed.
The Whirligig Park will be open throughout the street closures. Nearby businesses are also expected to remain open. We recommend allowing a bit of extra travel time in the area over the weekend, although we expect disruptions to be minor.
