Planning Administrator Tyra Hines has earned her Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation, the City of Rocky Mount announced on May 28. The certification is administered by the Association of State Floodplain Managers and indicates a high standard of expertise in floodplain management, flood risk reduction, and responsible development practices.

The city highlighted that this achievement comes as Rocky Mount continues its participation in the Community Rating System. This program has contributed to reducing flood risk and securing a 20% flood insurance premium discount for eligible residents.

The city said Ms. Hines’ accomplishment represents its continued commitment to protecting life and property, strengthening resilience, and supporting informed growth throughout the community.
