Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, North Carolina, has appointed four new members to its 2025 Board of Directors. The appointees are Stewart S. Arens Jr., Bishop Myron K. Smith, Dr. Calbee D. Newkirk, and Dr. Sanjay Cherukuri. These individuals have experience in business, healthcare, faith, and education.
Lindy White, interim CEO of Wilson Medical Center, expressed confidence in the new board members’ abilities: “We are so proud to welcome these members to our Board and know that they will do an outstanding job.” White highlighted their leadership skills and knowledge of community needs as assets for advancing the hospital’s mission.
Stewart S. Arens Jr., vice president of Arens-Webb Insurance Agency, is involved with local youth athletics and educational initiatives as board chairman of The Greenfield School and president of The Brittany T. Willis Memorial Scholarship Soccer Showcase.
Bishop Myron K. Smith has been the senior pastor at Christ Temple of Praise for 28 years and has a background in law enforcement as a former detective with the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington D.C.
Dr. Calbee D. Newkirk is a family medicine physician certified by the North Carolina Medical Board who has served Wilson County since 2017.
Dr. Sanjay Cherukuri is a cardiologist specializing in coronary artery disease management and serves as president of the Wilson Medical Center Medical Staff.
White emphasized the importance of strong community hospitals: “I am truly honored to have each serve on our hospital’s Board of Directors.”
