Come Be a Part of Our Story

Surprise storytime

There’s no better time to share the Wilson Community College story than now, as we celebrate Community College Month.  WCC is honored to be your community college, and we’re even more proud to help our Wilson community in any way we can.

In fact, in the last ten years, WCC has served 42,334 individuals in our Curriculum and Continuing Education programs.  Think about that for a moment – more than 42,000 people came to us seeking degrees, diplomas, or certificates, some wanting to “skill up” in their careers or grow their small businesses, and even industry employees needing training on new processes or machinery.

And I’d bet almost all of them have a story to tell.  I often ask our students to share why they chose to further their education at WCC and what they enjoy most.  Here are some of the things they’ve said:

“I love that Wilson Community College is close to home and affordable.  The program I am in is new, and I love it so far.  The staff helps you in any way they possibly can.” – Rio Montes, Building Construction Technology student

“My initial decision to attend Wilson Community College was for the vast academic programs, course options, and to support my daughter who is also a WCC student. In addition, the convenient location was an added benefit. For my second two-year degree program, I choose Wilson Community College for the community feeling and support. Every encounter with the staff has been positive. I can feel their genuine interest in my success.  So, if you’re trying to decide if community college is right for you, think about it this way: This educational experience will be different and better. You will have support beyond your family and friends. It is worth the effort to invest in yourself for a confident future. Take it one assignment at a time, and then you will be able to see the entire picture – your degree.” – Carla Damphie, Business Administration student

“This program is one of the best in the state and is highly recommended by officers and agencies all around.” – Courtney Warren, Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy student

“I ended up just giving up when I was in high school because my family could hardly afford to help my sister go to college, so I did the bare minimum to pass because I didn’t think I’d ever go to college. Nine years later, while working swing shift and wanting more out of life, I decided WCC would be my opportunity to start fresh after giving up on my education years ago.  Because of WCC, I’m now able to take classes that I never thought I’d ever have a chance to do.” – Jared Over, Associate of Arts student

We love hearing from our students and invite you to follow us on social media to read more of them.  Who knows, you may even come to us for a class or two after reading the testimonials or learning more about the programs we offer.

And now is the perfect time to come be a part of our story.  Registration is open for the summer and fall semesters.  Visit the Registration page, stop by to take a tour, or give us a call at (252) 291-1195.  #WilsonCC We make Wilson work.
